Moore is More: Why Software-Defined Battery Will Be the Only Battery Solution the World Needs
The pace of technological advancement means we must identify parallel scenarios and predict how market demand and technological capabilities converge to shape the next big thing. What does that mean for battery technology and electrification?
Stop Buying Lithium Batteries By the Pound
When compared with regular old dumb batteries, software-defined solutions are more expensive pound-for-pound. So what’s the business case for them? To answer that question, we must zoom out and consider not only the batteries. We must also consider the total cost of ownership and operational efficiency.
Welcome to the World of Software-defined Everything

A Lesson From Negative Oil Price: A Call For Smart Electrification
The COVID-19 pandemic shows how interdependent our economies are. No one region in the developed world can survive without goods from others, from toilet paper [roll-eye emoji] to PPE, and transportation is the essential activity that keeps the world spinning the way as we know it.
Rethinking Electric Mobility In Times Of Uncertainty
I live in New York City, the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the US.
My apartment is located along the route to a local hospital. Every hour, sirens cut through the quietude. Ambulances are parked at empty street corners, ready for action. A grocery run that normally took 30 minutes is now a 90-minute endeavor, which involves queueing up in the wind and rain for half an hour.
Three Key Factors To Profitable Electric Van And Truck Fleet Operation
The movement toward sustainable mobility is gaining momentum. Large fleet operators such as Deutsche Post, Amazon, UPS, and the world’s largest baking company, Bimbo are building EV fleets.
GM Jumps Onto The Bandwagon With Its Ultium Batteries — What Does It Mean?
GM recently revealed its new Ultium batteries, designed to support the growth of its EV portfolio and a third-generation global EV platform.
As industry incumbents are adopting an approach that we have been pursuing since the founding of Tanktwo, it’s unequivocal validation that everyone is heading in the right direction.
Where Sustainable Mobility Is Heading the 2020s
In 2020, many corporations will be prioritizing sustainability thanks to increased awareness in the consumer market, developments in green tech, and pressure from government policies to curb greenhouse gas emissions.
Making The Electrification Of Shared Mobility A Reality
Uber, Airbnb, Zipcar, Citi Bikes, Lime, Didi Chuxing… the sharing economy has entered our everyday vocabulary and is only going to grow as consumers seek a more sustainable lifestyle and businesses are eager to optimize resource usage.
Why Tesla Semi Isn’t Revolutionizing The Trucking Industry
In the US, trucks contribute to 23% of all transport-related greenhouse gas emissions and roughly 6% of total greenhouse gas emissions.
Besides pressure from growing public awareness, the trucking industry is also facing increasingly stringent regulations. For example, the EPA is expected to release new truck emissions rule in 2020 and some European cities are banning diesel vehicles from entering city centers.
Bigger Batteries And Faster Chargers Aren’t Enough To Make Ev Commercially Viable
Electrification in transportation will have a profound impact on many sectors in the near future. Not only are governments tightening up regulations and corporations scrambling to find solutions that will allow them to meet new standards without retooling their infrastructure but the tide has also turned in the consumer market where the “green pressure” is on.
The Tanktwo Patent Pipeline Starts To Flow
I’m in Vantaa right now, where a once-in-a-generation 82% solar eclipse took place just a couple of hours ago. The majestic display of nature’s awesomeness was unfortunately toned down by a foggy haze, so that we all were squinting at the surroundings trying to convince one another that “Yeah, I think it looks a little more gray than half an hour ago. Definitely! Right?”
Tanktwo’s First Soapbox Moment!
There is no shortage of “time-proven methods” to start a new business: “build it and they will come”, “fake it until you make it”, “succeed or die trying”, to mention a few.
In reality, of course, things are a little more complicated. Unless you already have the network, skills and financial resources from a successful exit, kicking something new out of the ground is largely an iterative affair. After thinking, writing, pitching, and building stuff (usually a couple times), there comes a time for customer reality and upping the game. Time to shift gears!
First Batch Of Tanktwo Patents Published!
Timing, as they say, is everything. Here is the story of why the Tanktwo patents were applied for when they did.
